Between Wednesday 18th April and Saturday 12th May Sydenham’s very own theatre company Spontaneous Productions is bringing this dramatic true story to life Upstairs at the Sydenham Centre, just around the corner from where Eleanor Marx and Edward Aveling lived out their final few years. Lucy Kaufman’s powerful new drama celebrates this remarkable woman — political activist, translator, early feminist and often neglected figure of historical importance — whilst tackling themes of love, loyalty, identity, betrayal, domestic abuse and the role of women in society.

It involves following a map and collecting cute numbered egg stickers from various shops on or near Penge High Street.
You can start wherever you want but sheets for the stickers and maps for the route will be handed out at the Alexandra and Goldsmiths pubs before 4:30pm. Alternatively you can print them off here when we make them available a few days before the event.
At the end, at the Bridge House, the children are given a chocolate egg and there's a disco for them till 6:30pm.
We look forward to seeing everyone in their most 'cracking' costume!
Your donations will go to children who would otherwise not receive one, and so anything you can give will be gratefully received. We need to have all donations in by 5th April and want to thank you in advance for your support.
Join Hans Christian Andersen, Denmark’s finest shopkeeper – sorry, storyteller! – on a magical journey under the sea as he tells three of his most famous tales to a very unhappy opera singer. Can The Little Mermaid, The Emperor’s New Clothes and The Ugly Duckling cheer her up and make her sing again?
The companies reinvention of classic tales with a modern twist are often surprising, always entertaining and are sure to leave your little ones smiling.
